This is a filter to the original design including the plastic cage - as fitted at the factory!
The filter is located behind the glovebox. It should be changed every 1 to 2 years, as it picks up leaves, pollen and other contaminants. Replacement will reduce stress on your fan blower, your heater resistor pack and will also improve airflow into the cabin.
